West Virginia Board of Examiners in Counseling

800-520-3852

  • We have an information/application CD that contains all the forms needed to apply for licensure.  It is called a "MFT Licensure Packet".  The instructions will guide you step-by-step in completing your "MFT Licensure Packet".  Obtaining and completing this "MFT Licensure Packet" is your first step in the licensure process.

  • Second step will be to file the completed "MFT Licensure Packet" with the board office.  This must be done PRIOR to taking the Marriage and Family licensure exam and/or receiving your provisional licensure certificate.

  • Note:  We find that applicants sometimes fail to read the materials in the "MFT Licensure Packet" and the Licensing Rule thoroughly before they email or call with us questions.  Please read all the information in the packet and Series 8 carefully prior to asking questions. Care has been taken to answer in all the questions that might come up!

If you have questions prior to sending for the application CD, please read the current licensure requirements -Marriage and Family Licensure Rule, Series 8.

Please send your name, address, email address, phone number and a check or money order for $30.00 payable to WVBEC, 815 Quarrier Street, Suite 212, Charleston, West Virginia 25301.    Unless our staff member is on vacation, your request will be processed within 14 days.  You will receive a copy of the licensing and fees rule in your packet.  If you would like to use a credit card to purchase the application CD, please see the Credit Card tab for instructions.
